Below are the statistics for the Donation Resource Center who approach for tissue donation. Eric took over implementing the MAPPing (Maximizing Authorization Practices and Potential) concepts and strategies in July 2014. As you can see there was a significant increase in authorization rates. The team went from the low 30 percent rates to rates consistently in the 40’s or higher. You can also see authorization rates increased year after year. The majority of these Donation Resource Coordinators had no prior experience with donation or approaching families for tissue donation.

In the information below we are breaking down the authorization rates even further and looking at individual authorization rates. Goals were set based on the prior years activity and authorization rates. Individual authorization rates were then monitored on a monthly basis. In this year the individual tissue authorization rate goal was 38-40 for the department average range, 41-44% for above the department average, and 45% or greater for significantly above the department average. As you can see from the graph, the majority of the department was at 44% or greater overall authorization rates.

Transplant Coordinator Authorization Rates (Organ and Tissue Authorization) 

Here are the overall authorization rates for the Transplant Coordinators that have completed the MAPP (Maximizing Authorization Practices and Potential) training program. Authorization rates on the graph are also broken down on a monthly basis.

The green bars indicate that the individual was at an authorization rate of 75% or above, the orange bars 34-74%, and the red bars 0-33%. Training for NK, TB, and AB began in December and was completed by the beginning of January. Since training had been completed, all three Transplant Coordinators were at 100% authorization rate for the month of December.

Please keep in mind that the number of approaches for each Transplant Coordinator is different and can be seen by looking at total Approaches. Just of note, none of the Transplant Coordinators had prior experience approaching families for organ and tissue donation. 

Donation Resource Coordinator Authorization Rates (Tissue Authorization)

Here are the overall authorization rates for the Donation Resource Coordinators that have completed the MAPP (Maximizing Authorization Practices and Potential) training program. Both coordinators have been meeting monthly goals and have tissue authorization rates above 40%.
